The Walking Dead

''Overview'' This scene was written using Telltale’s style of storytelling and dialogue structure. The characters, their actions, and dialogue are intended to be true to what might be found in Telltale’s The Walking Dead series. ''Characters'' ''Lee Everett:'' A former history professor turned convicted murderer, Lee is freed by the onset of the zombie plague while on his way to prison. Shortly after his escape, Lee comes across and rescues Clementine who is stuck in her treehouse. He and Clementine would become inseparable in the months that followed, with Lee taking on a surrogate-father role for the little girl. Despite being largely a player-controlled character, Lee is shown to be smart, reasonable, and independent, with a natural inclination towards being kind. Lee is completely devoted to Clementine, often coming to her aid when she is in trouble. This sometimes works to his disadvantage as he is shown to be overprotective of those he cares about. ''Lee’s Wife (Delia):'' Not much of her is known in The Walking Dead’s canon. Throughout the game, Lee reveals that they began to fight over whether to start a family (which Lee wanted). Eventually, Lee caught his wife sleeping with a state senator whom Lee killed in a fight. After going on trial, Lee broke off all contact with her. ''State Senator (Richard):'' The man with whom Lee’s wife cheated on him. Not much of him is known in The Walking Dead’s canon. He is killed by Lee in a fight when Lee walks in on him with his wife. Lee claims this was an accident. On several occasions, Lee demonstrates regret for having killed him. (Dialog based off former Georgia Rep. Keenly aware of many of the grown up situations happening around her, she has had to grow up quickly in the wake of the zombie apocalypse. Despite her sometimes adult disposition, Clementine is still very much a child with many of the accompanying proclivities. Her parents have been missing since the beginning of the plague, and in their absence, she has begun looking to Lee as something of a father-figure. Recently, Clementine had the misfortune of running into her now-zombified parents. In the process of looking for her, Lee was bitten by a walker. Horrified, Lee decided to: (pick only one) Cut off his arm to try to stop the infection.(click: "Cut off his arm to try to stop the infection.")[(set: $CutArm to true)] Do nothing. It was already too late.(click: "Do nothing. It was already too late.")[(set: $CutArm to false)] Over the course of the next several hours, the plague symptoms began to noticeably manifest in him. Despite this, Lee managed to rescue Clementine from her kidnapper, and in the process Lee chose to: (pick only one) Kill the stranger himself.(click: "Kill the stranger himself.")[(set: $KillStranger to true)] Spare the stranger. Instead, Clementine shot him when he attacked Lee.(click: "Spare the stranger. Instead, Clementine shot him when he attacked Lee.")[(set: $KillStranger to false)] After escaping with Clementine and running into her now zombified parents, Lee momentarily succumbs to the stress of his wounds and his sickness. "Scene" DIR: Lee drives up to his house midday. It’s clear that this is a pre-apocalypse neighborhood. He’s coughing and blowing his nose into a tissue. He’s obviously sick. As he pulls up to his driveway, he notices his wife’s car parked next to a strange car in front of his house. LEE: That’s Delia’s car. Did she get back early? And whose car is that?... DIR: LEE parks his car and heads into the house. He pauses at the stairs that lead up to the bedroom, and glances up. The door is closed. LEE: I could probably use a nap. DIR: Suddenly, a woman’s scream rings out from the bedroom. LEE’s face flashes with recognition and sudden terror. LEE: Delia? Delia! DIR: He sprints up the stairs and slams the bedroom door open. There’s a strange man (RICHARD) standing in the bedroom, half dressed. He looks surprised by the intrusion. DELIA is on the bed in a state of undress. Caught by surprise, she snatches the bedsheets to cover herself. RICHARD:[Georgia, Southern drawl; angry at being surprised] What the hell? DELIA:[Surprised] Lee! What are you doing here? LEE: [Tinge of sarcasm] I was feeling sick. Decided to go home early. I can see now that was a mistake. (display: "MP - Explanations & Excuses")

LEE: I heard screaming, and now I come up here to find this? DIR: Lee gestures at the scene before him. LEE: What the hell is going on? RICHARD: Think that should be plenty obvious by now. LEE: Yeah, I’m early. Now who the hell is he, and what’s he doing here? DIR: Lee gestures brusquely at Richard, who stares back defiantly. DELIA: [Stammering and ending weakly] He's, um, Richard. He's a, uh, senator? LEE: [Thoughtful at first, growing anger] Senator Richard Eason? I've heard of you. Guess it wasn't enough that you voted to cut education funding last year, you had to come to my home and fuck my wife, too? (display: "MP - Explanations & Excuses")

DELIA:[Slight desperation] Lee, just let me explain. I- RICHARD: Delia, just quit it. We both knew this day would come. Better to just rip off the band-aid now. LEE: What are you talking about? DELIA: I just… I don’t think we have a future together. DIR: Lee takes an involuntary step back. ''CHOICES: 1. [[I don't understand.]] 2. [[We had a plan...]] 3. [[This can’t be happening.]] 4. [[Silence|Silence - Angry at Delia]]''

LEE: [Sarcastic] No, I don't understand. Please, enlighten me. (display: "MP - Explanations & Excuses")

DIR: Lee glowers quietly at the scene before him. (display: "MP - Explanations & Excuses")

LEE: And just who the hell is he? DIR: LEE jerks a finger angrily at RICHARD. DELIA: [Stammering and ending weakly] He's, um, Richard. He's a, uh, senator? LEE: [Thoughtful at first, growing anger] Senator Richard Eason? I've heard of you. Guess it wasn't enough that you voted to cut education funding last year, you had to come to my home and fuck my wife, too? (display: "MP - Explanations & Excuses")

RICHARD: Well, I wouldn't put it in so crude a terms. DELIA: Stop it, Richard. DIR: DELIA turns to face LEE. (display: "MP - Explanations & Excuses")

LEE: But we were going to have a family. Get a bigger house, you would stop traveling so much… DELIA: No, Lee. That was what you wanted. (display: "MP - Downhill")

LEE: No. No, this can’t be happening. DELIA: It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. I’m so sorry, Lee... (display: "MP - Downhill")

DELIA: [Uncomfortable] I can understand if you’re angry with me... (display: "MP - Downhill")

LEE: I don’t understand. What are you saying? RICHARD: I think she spoke pretty plain. She’s leaving you. DELIA: Richard! RICHARD: Well ain’t that what you said? (display: "MP - Downhill")

DIR: Delia looks away, refusing to meet Lee’s eyes. Richard reaches out and takes a firm grip on Lee’s shoulder. RICHARD: It’s time you left. The lady ain’t decent, and you need a little time to think. ''CHOICES: 1. [[`*Punch him*`|Punch him]] 2. [[Hands off.]] 3. [[I wasn’t done.]] 4. [[Silence - Instigating]]''

DIR: Lee shakes off the Richard’s hand. LEE: Hands off, asshole. I’m not done here. RICHARD: What did you call me? DIR: Lee takes a step towards Delia. Richard once again grabs Lee by the shoulder and this time yanks him back and forcefully shoves Lee. (display: "MP - Fight Breaks Out")

DIR: Lee shakes off the man’s hand. LEE:[Emphasis on “wife”] I wasn’t done talking to my wife. DIR: Lee takes a step towards Delia. Richard once again grabs Lee by the shoulder and yanks him back. (display: "MP - Fight Breaks Out")

RICHARD: C’mon, it’s over. Move on. DIR: The man tries to lead Lee to the door, but Lee refuses to budge. RICHARD: So fucking stubborn. I can see why she’s leaving you. DIR: Richard forcefully shoves Lee. (display: "MP - Fight Breaks Out")

DIR: Lee takes a sudden swing at Richard. Lee’s punch connects with Richard’s jaw. (display: "MP - Fight Breaks Out")

DIR: A fight breaks out between the two men. In the background, Delia can be heard screaming for them to stop, but they ignore her. Eventually, Lee gains the upper hand and has Richard on his back on the floor. Bloodied and bruised, he raises a hand feebly to protect himself. Lee raises a fist. DELIA: [Pleading] Please, Lee! Enough! He's had enough! ''CHOICES: 1. [[`*Stop*`|Stop hitting]] 2. [[`*Continue hitting him*`|Kill Richard]]''

(set: $murderer to false)\ DIR: Lee lowers his fist slowly and gives Richard a disgusted look. Lee turns to Delia. LEE: This is the last time I do you favor. DIR: LEE gets up off the floor as Delia rushes over to help RICHARD up, who waves her off angrily as he gets up. LEE: I'll get a hotel tonight. I'd advise you to call lawyer. I know I will. DIR: Lee turns to leave. He opens the bedroom door and pauses. LEE: I think I already knew, deep down in my gut. Guess it just hurts even more that you picked a sleeze bag like him. DIR: A yell is heard as well as the sudden thumping of feet. Lee spins around to see Richard charging at him from across the room. Lee quickly steps aside, and Richard runs full tilt out out the door. A terrible crash can be heard as he falls down the stairs. Arriving in a broken heap at the bottom of the stairs, by the house entrance, Richard doesn't get up. Both Delia and Lee looked shocked and immediately run down after him. Delia kneels down, desperately trying to shake Richard awake to no effect. DELIA: [Desperate] Oh my god. Richard? Are you okay? Richard! Oh, please answer me. DIR: Lee stares on in horror at what he’s done. The man's head is bent at a strange angle. LEE: I didn't - I wasn't trying to - Is he - CLEMENTINE:[Scared and uncertain] Lee? DIR: Lee spins around. Clementine is standing in the open entrance doorway. Behind him, we can see Delia has disappeared, leaving only Richard's body. He stoops down and wraps his arms around Clementine, blocking her view of the scene behind him. LEE: Don’t look, Clementine. You don’t need to see this. CLEMENTINE: Lee, did you kill that man? He was a bad guy, right? Lee? ''CHOICES: 1. [[He was a bad man.]] 2. [[It was an accident.]] 3. [[How did you get here?]] 4. [[Silence|Silence - Answering Clem]]''

(set: $murderer to true)\ DIR: Lee smashes his fist into the man's face again and again. Each time, Richard's feeble attempts to protect himself grow weaker, and Lee's fists grow bloodier. Eventually, Lee stops. He sits in shock for a moment, staring at what he's done. Delia seizes this opportunity to shove Lee out of the way and tries to shake a non-respondent Richard awake. Lee stumbles to his feet. DELIA: [Desperate] Oh my god. Richard? Are you okay? Richard! Oh, please answer me. DIR: Lee stares on in horror at what he’s done. A pool of blood is beginning to form around the man’s head. LEE: I didn't - I wasn't trying to - Is he - CLEMENTINE:[Scared and uncertain] Lee? DIR: Lee spins around. Clementine is standing in the open bedroom doorway. Behind him, we can see Delia has disappeared, leaving only Richard's body and the slowly spreading blood. He stoops down and wraps his bloody arms around Clementine, blocking her view of the scene behind him. LEE: Don’t look, Clementine. You don’t need to see this. DIR: Clementine pushes away from Lee. Her clothes are now smeared with blood. She takes off her baseball cap, which has a bright red hand print on it, to look at it. CLEMENTINE: [Horrorstruck] Lee... You're covered in blood... ''CHOICES: 1. [[It's not mine.]] 2. [[There was an accident...]] 3. [[How did you get here?|Murder - How did you get here?]] 4. [[Silence|Silence/Murder - Answering Clem]]''

DELIA: [Desperate] Oh my god. Richard? Are you okay? Richard! Oh, please answer me. LEE: I - I didn’t mean to. You believe me, right, Clem? I didn’t mean to kill him. It was an accident. CLEMENTINE:[Sincere] I believe you. (display: "MP - Calming Clem")

LEE: How did you get here, Clem? Where did you come from? DIR: Lee holds Clementine out at arm’s length and looks at her. Clementine merely shrugs in response. CLEMENTINE: I just heard your voice and followed it. DIR: Lee pulls her close again. (display: "MP - Calming Clem")

DIR: Lee says nothing, instead hugging Clementine tighter. (display: "MP - Calming Clem")

DIR: Lee releases Clementine from the hug, making sure to stay between her and the grisly sight behind him. ''CHOICES: 1. [[We should go.]] 2. [[I’m sorry you saw that.]] 3. [[You shouldn’t be here.]] 4. [[Silence|Silence - Leaving with Clem]]''

LEE: We need to get out of here. CLEMENTINE: I’m not sure we can… LEE: What do you mean? DIR: Lee gives Clementine a questioning look, but Clementine just shrugs. Lee looks back at the body; his wife is nowhere in sight. He gets up and grabs Clementine’s hand, leading her to the open door. He stops abruptly at it. Before him the door opens to a black void. Lee pokes his head out into the abyss, but doesn’t go any farther. LEE: What the… (display: "MP - Zombie Richard")

LEE: I’m sorry you saw that. DIR: Clementine doesn’t answer, averting her eyes from the general direction of the body. (display: "MP - Zombie Richard")

LEE: You shouldn’t have followed me here. CLEMENTINE: I know, but I was scared, Lee. LEE: It’s ok, I’m here now, Sweet Pea. (display: "MP - Zombie Richard")

CLEMENTINE: Can we go now, please? DIR: Lee gives Clementine a nod and grabs her hand, leading her to the open door. He stops abruptly at it. Before him the door opens to a black void. Lee pokes his head out into the abyss, but doesn’t go any farther. LEE: What the… (display: "MP - Zombie Richard")

DIR: A noise is heard behind Lee. Clementine manages to catch a glimpse of whatever it is and gasps in horror. Lee lets go of Clementine and turns to face the new horror. The body of the once-dead Richard has reanimated and is now shuffling determinedly in the direction of Lee and Clementine. Lee gently pushes Clementine behind him. LEE: Stay behind me, okay? CLEMENTINE: Okay. DIR: The walker lurches towards Lee, and a brief struggle ensues. Lee manages to dispatch the walker, but is bitten in the process. The bite is in the exact same place he was bitten at the end of Episode 4. Lee stares at the bite in a mixture of horror and confusion. $CutArm[Before his eyes, the arm rots away into a stump.] CLEMENTINE:[Anxious and concerned] Lee? Are you okay? DIR: As Lee looks at his $CutArm[stump](else:)[wound], the flesh around it rapidly necrotizes, becoming a clammy, dead grey. It races up his arm and the rest of his body. He turns to face Clementine. Now fully undead, Lee falls upon Clementine. Her screams can be heard as Lee begins to feed. DIR: Lee wakes up to a very worried Clementine shaking him. They seem to be in an abandoned store. CLEMENTINE: Lee, wake up! Please don’t be dead, please no.* *This line is from The Walking Dead: Episode 5. The story would then segue into the episode's ending from here.

LEE: He was a bad man, Clem. CLEMENTINE: So you had to kill him, right? LEE: He… He didn’t deserve what I did to him... (display: "MP - Calming Clem")

DIR: Lee says nothing. He looks down in shame, refusing to meet Clementine's questioning gaze. (display: "MP - Zombie Richard")

LEE: I'm fine. It's not mine. CLEM: Is it his? DIR: Clem points behind Lee, in the direction of Richard's bloody corpse. ''CHOICES: 1. [[He was a bad man.]] 2. [[There was an accident...]] 3. [[How did you get here?|Murder - How did you get here?]] 4. [[Silence|Silence/Murder - Answering Clem]]''

LEE:[Somewhat distraught] There was an accident, and I - I think I killed someone, Clem. He's dead, but I didn’t mean to. You believe me, right? CLEMENTINE:[Sincere] I believe you. (display: "MP - Zombie Richard")

LEE:[changing the topic] How did you get here, Clem? Where did you come from? DIR: Lee tries put his bloody hands on Clem's shoulders, but she backs away. Lee puts his hands down slowly, clearly hurt. CLEMENTINE: I just heard your voice and followed it. DIR: Clem looks at Lee with uncertainty and distrust. (display: "MP - Zombie Richard")
